This one doesn’t affect me as much, I think because I get pretty excited in problem-solving mode and tend to just plough on ahead regardless of how I am perceived, which usually results in what I call the idea-stealing paradigm (see strategy #4).
BUT … when I AM self-aware, my usual strategy in this case is to insert my idea as a question (“what if we try x?” or “do you think we could do y?”). But the net result is the same – in order to avoid being threatening, create an opening to allow your colleague(s) to take credit for whatever idea is put forth. Again, this leads directly to strategy #4. Actually, this strategy really sucks, now that I think about it.
